Title: Tuition Benefits Specialist
Pay: $25 per hour

Under direct supervision, the Tuition Benefit Specialist will oversee all aspects of the Tuition Benefit and Dependent Tuition Benefit for all Philadelphia entities and Tuition Programs. This role will facilitate day-to-day operations to ensure that employees, our tuition vendor, and the participating education institutions are satisfied, and all tuition information is accurate coming to and from UPHS. This role works in collaboration with the other Tuition Benefit Specialists and department leadership to provide continuous improvement of all Educational Benefit Programs. The Specialist is the lead program owner of Student Loan initiatives for all of UPHS. This position is a key member of the Benefits team and oversees specific new programs at the system level.
Accountabilities
•\tBe the Subject Matter Expert for the Tuition Benefit Program and all the pieces of the process. This includes explaining Tuition and Dependent Tuition benefit program, process, requirements, understanding and explaining federal, state, and local taxes, and policy to all employees and provide direction to eligible employees to complete the application process.
•\tWork with tuition vendor and internal departments to ensure files and processes are running smoothly. Be able to troubleshoot issues as they arise leading to resolution and escalation if needed. This includes outreach and interaction with department leadership and other internal departments including HRIS, IS, and the payroll department.
•\tPerform day-to-day tasks to ensure benefits and programs runs smoothly. This includes but is not limited to handling files from our tuition vendor, passing file and information to and from our collections firm, HRIS, Payroll. Additionally, includes preparing files i.e. - Payroll file, Repayments, Tax file, Penn Payment Memos, Refunds, Loans
•\tUnderstand all aspects of the tuition tax process for all entities and be able to communicate to employees when inquiries come in.
•\tReview and manipulate a variety of files as they come in from tuition vendor – including but not limited to suspended master file, missing/failing grades, collections, open vouchers.
•\tPrepare collections information, review appeals and work directly with collection vendor to help manage employee collections.
•\tBe the point of contact, subject matter expert, and manage all of aspects any new Programs implemented such as Loan Forgiveness or Loan Assistance from implementation to ongoing promotion. Respond to messages in the Tuition email box and voicemails within 24 hours.
•\tLead live sessions focused on utilizing the Tuition Program. Develop other communications, articles, and written materials to promote new programs.
•\tProvide data, reports, and analysis to department leadership. Also help to work through any other data requests that come in from departments regarding tuition utilization to support recruitment, retention, and employee growth in the organization.
•\tPerforms duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
