Description

1. Patient Preparation and Care:

  • Explain Procedures: Provide detailed explanations to patients about the MRI procedure, including what to expect and how to prepare.
  • Assess Medical History: Review patients' medical history and check for any contraindications to MRI, such as metallic implants or devices.
  • Prepare Patients: Assist patients with positioning and ensure comfort during the procedure. This may include providing ear protection and using pillows or pads to stabilize the patient.

2. Operating MRI Equipment:

  • Set Up Equipment: Configure the MRI machine according to the specific requirements of the scan, including selecting appropriate protocols and settings.
  • Position Patients: Accurately position patients on the MRI table to obtain high-quality images. Proper alignment is crucial for diagnostic accuracy.
  • Monitor Scans: Oversee the imaging process, making adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal image quality.

3. Image Quality and Analysis:

  • Review Images: Check the initial images for clarity and completeness. Determine if additional scans are needed or if adjustments are required.
  • Work with Radiologists: Collaborate with radiologists to discuss findings and obtain any additional imaging or information if needed.

4. Safety and Protocols:

  • Maintain Safety Standards: Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including monitoring for potential hazards and ensuring the MRI room is free of any metallic objects.
  • Infection Control: Follow infection control procedures, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment and work areas.

5. Administrative Duties:

  • Record Keeping: Document patient information, procedures performed, and any relevant observations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Schedule Appointments: Manage scheduling for MRI procedures, coordinating with patients and other healthcare professionals.

6. Technical Maintenance:

  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance checks on the MRI machine and report any malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Stay Updated: Keep up with advancements in MRI technology and techniques to ensure the highest standards of practice.

7. Communication:

  • Patient Interaction: Maintain clear and compassionate communication with patients throughout their visit.
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Work with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care and accurate diagnostic outcomes.
