Overview:Soliantis seeking a skilled and passionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a part-time position. The TVI will play a critical role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, ensuring their access to an inclusive and effective educational experience. This position is ideal for a dedicated professional with a passion for helping students reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, including those with low vision and blindness.
- Conduct assessments to determine students visual needs and educational requirements, and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with educators, parents, and specialists.
- Create and adapt educational materials to meet students visual needs, including braille, large print, and assistive technologies.
- Provide direct instruction in areas such as braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and independent living skills.
- Train and support classroom teachers and school staff on effective strategies and acmodations for visually impaired students.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing regular updates to parents and school staff.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of instructional strategies and goals.
- Collaborate with external agencies and munity resources to enhance support services for students with visual impairments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or a related field.
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Texas.
- Experience working with students with visual impairments is preferred.
- Proficiency in braille, assistive technology, and adaptive techniques.
- Strong munication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with students, families, and school personnel.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized educational plans and acmodations.
