Vice President of Legal & Compliance
Our client who is one of the largest and fastest growing independent equipment finance companies in the industry is currently looking for a Vice President of Legal & Compliance who brings 5+ years of experience to the table. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the Legal Department on a day-to-day basis, including overseeing the company’s compliance function, legal recovery strategy and execution, contract negotiation, risk assessment, and several other core responsibilities. Also provides legal support to other department groups within the company. This position would be a core member of the company’s management team and would be expected to be a key leader within the company. Candidates must reside in NE for consideration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal Recovery
•Set a strategy to maximize recovery
•Oversee staff supervising staff case management
•Management of outside counsel and other third-party vendors
Advice of Counsel
•Conduct legal research and prepare written and oral advice for staff.
•Prepare documents and correspondence when requested for particular projects or other circumstances.
Staff Supervision and Management
•Supervises the Legal Department staff, manages their workloads, and oversees the quality of their work.
•Maintains budget.
•Attends management meetings and implements policies
Compliance
•Oversee company compliance efforts, including preparation of annual compliance audit.
•Lead efforts to respond to change in regulatory requirements
•Direct yearly compliance training to the company
•Quarterly new hire compliance training for new hires

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Compliance Officer role or similar within the Commercial Credit industry
• Proficiency in using compliance software
• Demonstrable skills in auditing, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Thorough understanding of compliance procedures and policies
• Proven experience in training management and performance management
• Ability to effectively manage a team, promoting a culture of compliance
• Strong legal research skills, with the ability to interpret and apply legislation to business practices
• Experience in document production, with an emphasis on compliance-related documents
• Ability to draft legal documents and maintain accurate legal documentation
• Experience in collections in a commercial setting, understanding the legal and compliance aspects involved
