Job Title: Orientation and Mobility Specialist

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Orientation and Mobility Specialist to provide crucial support for individuals with visual impairments. This role involves assisting clients in enhancing their mobility skills and achieving greater self-sufficiency. The ideal candidate will be adept at creating personalized training programs and have a deep understanding of the distinct challenges faced by our clients.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Carry out in-depth assessments of clients' mobility needs and develop personalized orientation and mobility training plans.
- Offer tailored instruction in diverse settings such as homes, communities, and workplaces.
- Guide clients in utilizing mobility aids like canes and electronic devices, and help improve their spatial awareness and navigation skills.
- Work closely with clients, their families, and other professionals to set and monitor goals.
- Design and facilitate workshops and training sessions on orientation and mobility.
- Stay informed about the latest advancements, best practices, and emerging technologies in the field.
- Maintain precise records of client progress and generate comprehensive reports.
- Support clients in engaging with community activities and various environments.

Required Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Orientation and Mobility, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, or a related field.
- Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) is mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
- Extensive knowledge of mobility techniques, assistive technologies, and adaptive methods.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with clients from various backgrounds.
- Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle required.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in creating and managing community outreach programs.
- Familiarity with a range of mobility aids and adaptive technologies.
