Job Title: Orientation and Mobility Specialist

Position Summary:
We are seeking an Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialist to provide direct support to individuals with visual impairments, aiding them in developing travel skills and greater independence. The successful candidate will be adept at crafting customized O&M training plans and will have a profound grasp of the unique challenges and opportunities encountered by our clients.

Primary Duties:
- Evaluate clients mobility needs through comprehensive assessments and create tailored orientation and mobility training strategies.
- Offer personalized instruction in various settings, including residential, community, and professional environments.
- Instruct clients in the use of mobility tools, such as canes and electronic aids, and improve their spatial awareness and navigation capabilities.
- Work collaboratively with clients, their families, and other professionals to establish objectives and monitor progress.
- Design and present workshops and training sessions related to orientation and mobility.
- Keep up-to-date with best practices, new technologies, and developments in the orientation and mobility field.
- Accurately document client progress and report on results.
- Advocate for clients, assisting them in participating in community activities and environments.

Requirements:
- Masters degree in Orientation and Mobility, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, or a closely related field.
- Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) is essential.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
- Extensive knowledge of mobility techniques, assistive technologies, and adaptive methods.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Valid drivers license and access to reliable transportation.
