Job Title: Orientation and Mobility Specialist

Role Description:
We are looking for a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist to offer vital assistance to individuals with visual impairments, helping them improve their mobility skills and gain increased independence. The successful candidate will be proficient in developing customized training programs and have a thorough understanding of the unique challenges our clients encounter.

Key Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients' mobility needs and design individualized orientation and mobility training plans.
- Provide customized instruction in a range of environments, including home, community, and workplace settings.
- Assist clients in the use of mobility aids such as canes and electronic devices, and enhance their spatial awareness and navigation abilities.
- Collaborate with clients, their families, and other professionals to set goals and track progress.
- Create and deliver workshops and training sessions focused on orientation and mobility.
- Keep up with the latest industry advancements, best practices, and new technologies.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress and prepare detailed reports.
- Advocate for clients and support their participation in community activities and various environments.

Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Orientation and Mobility, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, or a similar field.
- Essential certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS).
- Proven experience working with individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mobility techniques, assistive technologies, and adaptive strategies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A valid drivers license and reliable transportation are necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in developing and implementing community outreach programs.
- Knowledge of a variety of mobility aids and adaptive technologies.
