REMOTE contract role for Sr Payroll Specialist (CAN)

We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team in the Transport industry, located in Fort Worth, TX. As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for handling various payroll related tasks, investigating pay discrepancies, reconciling pay requests, and managing finance or pension related inquiries. This role offers a short-term contract employment opportunity. 100% REMOTE. Must have experience with Canadian payrolls. (Sr.- CAN) Payroll Specialist [M-F – 8a-5p EST– likely up to 10 hrs/OT weekly, need flexibility].


Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough investigations into pay discrepancies and resolve pay-related requests.

• Address and resolve any finance or pension related inquiries.

• Manage and rectify any HRC replication errors.

• Process banking changes, including direct deposit setup and tax changes.

• Handle garnishment submissions to ADP and ensure their proper setup.

• Carry out eTime adjustments and reconciliations as required.

• Collaborate effectively with P& O and HRC to process payroll-related data in a timely and accurate manner.

• Stay updated with regulations like FLSA, Separation, FMLA, Payday for Voluntary/Involuntary.

• Take responsibility for the hourly payroll of US employees and conduct all duties associated with processing and auditing the hourly payroll.

• Calculate vacation on termination pay outs for hourly employees.

• Process eTime and GV entries for approved Short Term Disability hourly employees.

• Review and balance weekly payroll reports before finalizing payroll run.

• Compile and send Funding and Pension information to Finance.

• Assist with various department projects involving hourly employees as needed.

• Handle month-end, period-end, and ad hoc reports related to Unions, Worker’s Compensation, pension, and garnishments.

• Assist with quarterly & year-end audits, reconciliations, and filings.

• Collaborate with HR/site management on upcoming mass changes.

• Process pay statement and tax form reprint requests as needed.

• Respond to lawyer requests as received.

  1. ADP GlobalView – or combination of ADP & SAP
  2. Attention to detail – MUST stay on top of all details
  3. Strong payroll experience (Intermediate Excel: Vlookups/Pivot Tables)
  4. Excellent communication skills with management and team. 


Experience with payroll of Canadian employees

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll specialist role

• Proficiency in full cycle payroll processes

• Experience in payroll tax deposits and payroll tax reporting

• Familiarity with HR payroll systems

• Proven track record of handling W2 forms

• Experience in human resources (HR) administration

• Knowledge of multi-state payroll processing

• Proficiency in using ADP for payroll management

• Industry-specific experience in transport is a plus
