Payroll Accountant ~Washington, D.C. area 

$130k, free parking great benefits, 401(k), growing company

My client is a growing Consulting firm headquartered just outside Washington, D.C. with a need for a Payroll Accountant. The Payroll Accountant will oversee and manage all accounting aspects of payroll, including general ledger postings, journal entries, monthly reporting, reconciliations, and process improvements. The Payroll Accountant will report to the VP of Finance and Accounting and will oversee employee payroll taxes and work with Human Resources and Accounting to prepare reports in ADP Workforce Now and ensure accuracy and compliance with local and federal laws. The Manager Payroll Accounting must have supervisor experience, experience with using ADP Workforce Now, and strong accounting background debits/credits. Payroll professionals with their CPP are highly encouraged to apply. The Director of Payroll will be responsible for the following:

- Responsible for posting payroll GL entries, monthly reporting, reconciling accounts

- Manage the updating and employee change status for benefits, 401k, and other deductions

–Review and post payroll journal entries, prepare manual entries as needed

- Calculate manual net/gross and tax withholdings

- Performance reviews of staff and training

- Process wage garnishments and tax liens

- Reconcile and balance payroll account and prep for Audits

5+ year of experience in payroll accounting

Strong background in payroll accounting and taxes

Proficient in MS Excel
