Position Snapshot:

  • Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, Onsite
  • Setting: Collaborative, inclusive, and student-focused

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design individualized lesson plans that cater to the specific learning needs of DHH students.
  • Engage students using a variety of communication methods, including ASL, speech reading, and visual supports.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to support academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Provide support and strategies to classroom teachers to facilitate the integration of DHH students in mainstream classrooms.
  • Act as a key resource for families and staff, promoting a comprehensive support system for student success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related discipline.
  • Valid Alabama teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
  • Proficiency in ASL and experience supporting DHH students in diverse learning settings.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and accommodations for DHH students.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a focus on positive student outcomes.
