Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe Tribal Grant Fund Bookkeeper is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records for tribal grants and funding programs. This role involves overseeing the financial aspects of grant administration, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and providing detailed financial reports to support the effective management and utilization of grant funds. The Tribal Grant Fund Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for all tribal grant funds, including tracking expenditures, revenues, and fund balances. In this role you will prepare and submit detailed financial reports related to grant activities, including budget vs. actual reports, to ensure transparency and compliance with grant requirements.

The Tribal Grant Fund Bookkeeper will be working directly with compliance monitoring to ensure that all financial transactions and documentation related to grants comply with federal, state, and tribal regulations and guidelines. The Tribal Grant Fund Bookkeeper must perform regular reconciliations of grant-related accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner as well as monitor and verify all grant-related expenditures to ensure they are within the approved budget and aligned with grant objectives. In this role you must maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions, grant agreements, and supporting documentation for audit purposes as well as work closely with grant administrators, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary financial data and provide support for grant-related financial planning.

The Tribal Grand Fund Bookkeeper must assist in the preparation for internal and external audits by providing required documentation and answering auditor queries related to grant funds as well as assist in the preparation of grant budgets, forecasts, and financial projections to support effective financial planning and management. Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or financial management, preferably with experience in grant management or working with tribal funds.

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with federal, state, and tribal grant regulations and reporting requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
