Job Summary: The Lead Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of government commercial construction projects from inception to completion. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in project management, particularly within the construction industry. The Lead Project Manager will be tasked with ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while also ensuring compliance with all governmental regulations and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Execution:

    • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects.
    • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, resources, and risk management strategies.
    • Ensure project milestones and deliverables are met according to the established schedule.
  2. Budget and Cost Management:

    • Oversee project budgets, ensuring cost control and adherence to financial plans.
    • Monitor and manage all project expenditures and report on budget variances.
    • Approve purchase orders, change orders, and invoices related to the project.
  3. Team Leadership and Collaboration:

    • Lead, mentor, and manage project teams, including subcontractors, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders.
    • Foster a collaborative environment, ensuring clear communication and coordination among all team members.
    • Conduct regular meetings to track project progress and address any issues.
  4. Regulatory Compliance and Safety:

    • Ensure that all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes, safety standards, and environmental laws.
    • Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect all personnel on-site.
    • Liaise with government officials, inspectors, and regulatory bodies as needed.
  5. Stakeholder Management:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, government agencies, and other key stakeholders.
    • Provide regular updates on project status, addressing any concerns or requests from stakeholders.
    • Manage client expectations and ensure satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  6. Quality Control:

    • Ensure that all work is performed to the highest quality standards.
    • Conduct regular site inspections to verify that construction is progressing according to plans and specifications.
    • Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions as needed.
  7. Risk Management:

    • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
    • Monitor risk factors throughout the project and adjust plans accordingly.
    • Ensure contingency plans are in place for unforeseen events.
  8. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, permits, schedules, and reports.
    • Prepare and present detailed project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
    • Ensure all project records are accurately maintained and archived upon project completion.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in project management within the commercial construction industry, with government contracts.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction processes, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale, complex construction projects from start to finish.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in project management software
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
