Job Summary

Oversee the management of contracts for new construction and/or major renovations for multi-million-dollar capital programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop project plans, work breakdown, and schedules to ensure successful project completion on time and within budget.
  • Provide oversight and direction to general contractors, construction managers, or independent construction teams for construction management.
  • Ensure construction projects conform to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Perform and/or review calculations to ensure estimates conform to regulatory requirements.
  • Inspect construction projects to assure conformance with designs, plans, and specifications.
  • Resolve conflicts between drawings and specifications with general contractors, construction contractors, and other parties.
  • Prepare clear, technically sound, and accurate reports on construction projects.
  • Utilize computer software for construction project preparation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Review and resolve claims arising from construction projects in consultation with technical and legal experts.
  • Negotiate and conclude change orders.
  • Review, monitor, and utilize warranties on materials related to construction.
  • Develop and maintain communication and reporting channels with internal stakeholders.
  • Plan and coordinate implementation of tasks related to project close-out and building commissioning.
  • Assist in preparation and monitoring of construction project budgets.
  • May provide guidance to support staff.
  • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of experience in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management, including three years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Additional related education, training, or experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the education requirement.
  • Valid non-commercial class C driver's license.
  • Experience with computer software used in construction project management, building design, and construction.
  • Experience with Proliance project management software, Primavera project scheduling software, and Autodesk Revit building design software.
  • Skills in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated in-depth skills in construction monitoring, resolving conflicts between drawings and specifications, inspection of materials for specification compliance, and related activities.
  • Demonstrated in-depth skills in general contractor construction management.
  • Demonstrated in-depth skills in the management of projects utilizing the CM at Risk GMP project delivery method.
  • Demonstrated in-depth skills in claims review, change order negotiations, warranty management, and internal client coordination.
  • Demonstrated in-depth skills in project close-out and building commissioning.
  • Ability to write and present technical reports for both general and technical audiences.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others both verbally and in writing.
