Job Title: Property Accountant - Commercial Real Estate
Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Pay: $90,000 - $100,000 per year (based on experience)
Work Environment: 100% Onsite
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties.
- Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions related to property management, ensuring timely payment of vendors and accurate tenant billing.
- Conduct Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations, ensuring proper expense allocation and tenant billing adjustments.
- Prepare and review property budgets and provide variance analysis to property managers and senior leadership.
- Collaborate with property managers and leasing teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with lease agreements.
- Reconcile bank accounts and tenant ledgers on a regular basis to ensure accuracy in cash management and tenant billings.
- Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- Prepare and provide supporting documentation for audits, tax filings, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records for each property in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
- Work closely with senior management to provide financial insights and recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on commercial real estate.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and commercial property accounting principles.
- Proficiency in property management accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with CAM reconciliations and tenant billings is required.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with property managers, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
Pay Details: $90,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year
