We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Biller/Coder to join a company in Melbourne, Florida on a contract-to-hire basis. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate insurance claim submissions, managing follow-ups, and resolving payment issues.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather insurance information from patients and physician offices to submit claims.
  • Input essential data into the finance system to facilitate the generation of insurance claims.
  • Utilize insurance websites to resolve outstanding claims and ensure timely payment.
  • Manage and submit appeals for underpayments or claim denials.
  • Oversee all stages of insurance follow-up to secure payment for claims.
  • Effectively prioritize time-sensitive accounts while managing multiple tasks.
  • Handle phone interactions with patients, insurance providers, and clients regarding patient accounts.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of CPT & diagnosis codes, LCD/NCD, and payer medical policies.
  • Investigate and analyze denial reasons, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Retrieve, organize, and refile documents for audits or insurance requests.
  • Update patient address information as required to ensure accurate records.
  • Prepare and compile data for attorney follow-up as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • 3+ years in the medical insurance field preferred
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required, with a proven ability to navigate and utilize these systems effectively.
  • Must have strong experience in Accounts Receivable (AR), demonstrating the ability to manage and maintain AR in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with Appeals is necessary, particularly in relation to medical billing disputes and insurance denials.
  • Should have the ability to handle Authorizations, including obtaining and managing patient authorizations for medical procedures.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Billing Functions is essential, including invoicing, payment collection, and financial record keeping in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience in various insurance portals including Xifin and Availity are a plus.
