We are partnered with a Family Owned Commercial Real Estate Company located in Downtown Chicago. They are recruiting top talent for a Senior Property Accountant to join their accounting department. Please review the details below and apply if interested in learning more.  

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports
  • Develop and analyze reporting for business operations and budgets
  • Perform monthly close and prepare monthly financial statements – including general ledger review, monthly journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and P&L account schedules – and provide a detailed review and variance analysis while ensuring they are properly stated and all supporting schedules are valid.
  • Assist and review budgets and re-forecasts.
  • Prepare and assist with monthly draws for operating and capital expenses.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Perform and prepare CAM reconciliations.
  • Analyze and review bad debt reserves with property teams, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Analyze lease commissions, tenant allowances, and other capital items for proper classification and appropriateness.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings.
  • Interact with A/R, Property Management, Asset Managers, etc.
  • Review of A/P coding and descriptions.
  • Ensure mortgage, real estate taxes, and insurance are paid timely.
  • Perform complex reconciliations and analytics.
  • Handle minor problems independently.
  • Carry out the work and ensure any projects run smoothly from start to finish.
  • Miscellaneous tasks and special projects.
  • Perform audits, ensuring adherence to standard requirements
  • Create new processes to improve financial efficiency
  • Report analysis and findings to management team

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in accounting or other related fields
  • Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with current computer accounting programs and reporting tools
  • Detail and deadline-oriented
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
