Job Description: Speech-Language Pathologist

Location: Portland, Maine

Position: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Job Type: Full-Time

Overview: Portland Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist to join our dedicated team. The SLP will be instrumental in diagnosing and treating speech, language, and munication disorders, supporting students in reaching their academic and social goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct prehensive evaluations to diagnose speech, language, and munication disorders.
  • Design and implement individualized treatment plans and IEPs based on the unique needs of each student.
  • Provide direct therapy to students, both individually and in small groups.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school personnel to support students' progress.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of evaluations, treatment plans, and student progress.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to provide professional remendations.
  • Conduct screenings and offer consultations as necessary.
  • Stay current with advancements in speech-language pathology and integrate best practices into therapy.
  • Provide training and resources to school staff on speech and language development and disorders.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid license to practice Speech-Language Pathology in the state of Maine.
  • Certificate of Clinical petence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Maine Department of Education certification for Speech-Language Pathologists.
  • Strong knowledge of IDEA and other relevant special education regulations.
  • Excellent munication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in a school setting is preferred but not required.

Required Licensure and Certifications:

  • Maine State License: Must hold and maintain a valid license to practice speech-language pathology in Maine.
  • ASHA Certification: Certificate of Clinical petence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Maine Department of Education Certification: Certification for Speech-Language Pathologists, including meeting all state educational and examination requirements.
