Key Responsibilities:
Deliver expert, evidence-based nursing care to patients and their families.

Nursing Process Implementation:
1. Assess patient and family needs.
2. Analyze assessment data to formulate clinically accurate diagnoses.
3. Establish care plans with measurable goals.
4. Execute the care plan.
5. Evaluate patient responses to interventions.
6. Document care in accordance with institutional and regulatory standards.
7. Administer medications, including chemotherapy, and perform procedures safely and efficiently.
8. Evaluate educational and psychological needs of patients and families, integrating identified needs into care plans.
9. Educate patients and families on various disease aspects and treatment modalities, including chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
10. Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations, maintaining BLS certification.
11. Identify community resources to ensure continuity of care and make necessary referrals.

Maintain compliance with established professional nursing standards and licensure requirements applicable to the nursing role.

Build rapport with patients and families from diverse cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.
Engage with patients and families compassionately, respecting their privacy and confidentiality needs.
Develop problem-solving strategies that cater to the unique needs of patients and families.
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care and support to the populations served.

Foster an environment sensitive to the needs of diverse populations, including but not limited to culture, ethnicity, gender, and age.

Manage the patient care environment, ensuring patient safety and compliance with regulatory standards.

Uphold the Code of Ethics for Nurses in all professional practices.

Contribute to the establishment and achievement of unit goals within the Division of Nursing and Patient Care Services.

Assist in defining objectives and developing systems and processes for the unit and the Division of Nursing.

Participate in unit, program-based, and divisional committees and initiatives.
Exhibit flexibility in setting and adjusting priorities, accepting additional responsibilities as necessary. Engage in quality assurance and improvement projects for the unit and the Division of Nursing.
Support research initiatives within the unit and the Division of Nursing and Patient Care Services.

Qualifications:
Must hold a valid registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or the State of New Hampshire as applicable. A baccalaureate degree in nursing is strongly preferred; if holding an associate degree, a BSN must be completed within four years.
A minimum of one year of recent nursing experience is required, with ambulatory and/or oncology experience preferred. Professional nursing certification is preferred (OCN, BMTCN, CPHON, AOCNP, CRNI, RN-BC). AHA BLS certification is required (AHA ACLS accepted as a minimum requirement).
