JOB SUMMARY

The role involves serving as a legal advisor, addressing various legal issues for ITC Holdings Corp within the Capital Projects and Maintenance sector of the Legal Department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handles routine and moderately complex legal matters associated with capital and maintenance projects, including securing necessary governmental approvals and addressing real estate legalities.
  • Provides guidance to company personnel, making recommendations and advocating for the company on various legal issues; collaborates with senior attorneys for complex matters.
  • Engages in litigation processes, assisting with the preparation of pleadings, discovery, oral arguments, and settlement discussions.
  • Reviews and negotiates contracts and legal documents, advising personnel on terms and implications.
  • Conducts analysis of statutes, regulations, and case law, providing insights on their impact on the company.
  • Performs legal research and communicates findings to company personnel through written and verbal means.
  • Oversees external legal counsel and vendors engaged in legal matters.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school or equivalent experience.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in state and federal courts.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of legal practice experience.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in business litigation and disputes, preferably in a utility context.
  • Two (2) years of experience handling real estate legal matters, ideally within the utility sector.
  • Knowledge of the utility industry is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects effectively.
  • Strong research skills related to legal precedents.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Capability to work with minimal supervision and in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and email applications.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required; ITC does not sponsor employment visas.
