Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Implementation: Collaborate with participants, families, and support staff to implement Individual Services Plans (ISPs) and Behavior Management Plans, ensuring a well-integrated approach to support.
  • Encourage Participation: Foster engagement in activities such as Cultural Center events, Job Club, and Literacy Classes, promoting socialization and skill development.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all relevant regulations, agency policies, and confidentiality guidelines, seeking clarification from supervisors as needed.
  • Personal Care and Training: Provide training and supervision in Activities of Daily Living, promoting independence and participation in personal care tasks.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Serve as a positive role model, providing guidance and direction while encouraging high-level engagement and socialization.
  • Safety and Well-being: Ensure the safety and well-being of participants at all times, adhering to safety policies and laws.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention as needed, using the least restrictive emergency procedures to protect participants from harm.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of participant records, adhering to agency policies and state regulations.
  • Professional Development: Participate in skill development and professional growth opportunities, enhancing knowledge and skills in support of participants.
Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED required, with a minimum of three years of experience working with individuals with disabilities in a healthcare or social service setting.
  • Certifications and Clearances: Clear criminal and child abuse history, medical and drug screen, and valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Compassion and Empathy: Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and a positive attitude while supporting independence and promoting participant choice.
  • Crisis Intervention and Problem-Solving: Ability to provide crisis intervention, including de-escalation of behavior, and effectively problem-solve with the ability to proactively address issues.
  • Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) Certification: Ability to obtain ODP medication administration certification.
Working Conditions:

Varies, including work training centers, classrooms, art spaces, and community settings within the greater Philadelphia region. May be required to lift and/or physically support program participants independently, with reasonable accommodations made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
