Job Overview

The Property Controller plays a pivotal role in overseeing all financial operations related to resort management, food and beverage services, and retail activities, while ensuring the protection of company assets. The Property Controller collaborates closely with Corporate Resort Accounting and maintains a significant reporting relationship with the resort's General Manager and F&B Manager.


Key Responsibilities

Daily Tasks:

  • Verify the accuracy and distribution of daily financial reports.
  • Manage cash and credit card bank deposits.
  • Ensure the security of cash and facilitate timely deposits.
  • Engage in daily operational meetings.
  • Address discrepancies in income audits and assist with deposit transfers and guest credits.

Weekly Tasks:

  • Validate accounts payable and payroll expenditures.
  • Review and authorize weekly financial summaries.
  • Update labor standards reports and disseminate summaries.
  • Provide a weekly financial report to Corporate Resort Accounting.
  • Assist in billing and correcting folios.
  • Process and monitor rental paperwork and revenue reports.

Monthly Tasks:

  • Collaborate on month-end closing activities with corporate accounting.
  • Distribute monthly financial statements to resort leadership.
  • Conduct financial analysis and variance reporting.
  • Maintain general ledger and reconcile balance sheets.
  • Perform surprise audits on cash handling.
  • Review accounts receivable aging reports and enforce collection measures.
  • Oversee rental pool commissions and housekeeping reimbursements.

Annual Tasks:

  • Prepare annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Compile budgets in the required format for HOA.
  • Participate in annual HOA meetings and provide necessary financial documentation.

Supervisory Duties

This role includes the overall management, coordination, and evaluation of the accounting department. Responsibilities encompass hiring and training accounting personnel, planning and directing work, and addressing team concerns and resolving issues in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.


Qualifications

To excel in this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; or seven to ten years of relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in accounting, particularly within the hospitality sector.
  • Strong analytical and organizational capabilities.
