Job Overview: Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst, the Financial Analyst plays a pivotal role in delivering insights and evaluations regarding financial and operational performance. This position involves supporting financial planning and budgeting activities, scrutinizing financial statements and reports, constructing financial models, preparing forecasts, and conducting research and analysis as directed by leadership. The Financial Analyst will also be tasked with offering financial guidance to project teams and conducting monthly variance analysis across all financial accounts, alongside examining variances in essential operational metrics. This individual will be a vital contributor to the Finance department and an integral member of project teams for significant NEFCO initiatives, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of upstream and downstream processes and their financial implications. This role will uphold compliance with financial regulations, company policies, and pertinent legal standards while collaborating directly with the CFO and Senior Analyst on ongoing and ad-hoc business analysis, reporting, and financial modeling that supports the NEFCO executive leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit exceptional attention to detail and a strong enthusiasm for data modeling and business analytics.
  • Demonstrate robust analytical and Excel capabilities, with the ability to manipulate, aggregate, filter, and summarize extensive data sets into actionable insights.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial and operational reporting and analysis for internal stakeholders, categorized by customer, sales representative, product, vendor, GL type, and buyline, among others.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities in financial performance, offering recommendations and insights to management.
  • Oversee POS (Point of Sales) reporting for key vendors.
  • Manage the tracking, reporting, accruals, and payouts of SPIFFs (Sales Program Incentive Funds) for NEFCO sales teams.
  • Collaborate with IT to transition reports and processes to KORE (new data warehouse software), which includes reconciling data sets from various sources and pinpointing root causes of discrepancies.
  • Spot opportunities for process enhancements and more efficient methods of data collection, reporting, and analysis.
  • Create diverse reports, dashboards, and rankings for the NEFCO sales teams.
  • Develop proficiency in key systems and software, including Eclipse (ERP), Phocas (BI), and Adaptive Planning (Financial consolidation).
  • Establish a standardized reporting process for analyzing volume, price, and mix by product SKU and product type.
  • Revise customer rebate reporting and accrual processes to incorporate projected sales volume and tiers.
  • Review monthly financial statements and assist in the monthly close process, ensuring data integrity and resolving discrepancies by booking necessary journal entries.
  • Conduct variance, trend, and sensitivity analysis based on actual and projected data, along with in-depth account validations and reconciliations within Adaptive Planning.
  • Assist in the development of a 13-week cash forecast utilizing AR and AP aging.
  • Support the Senior Analyst in the creation of the annual budget, including necessary supporting schedules and growth assumptions linked to the financial plan.
  • Assist the CFO and Senior Financial Analyst with various projects, new reporting initiatives, KPIs, audits, and financial modeling.
  • Participate in the review of monthly financials, conducting necessary research and analysis to highlight business drivers and potential opportunities.
  • Enhance reporting and analysis of inventory, supporting the purchasing function in developing inventory KPIs and aging inventory reports by branch and product type.
