Role Overview:

We are seeking a qualified candidate with experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and their application. This position involves understanding complex operational missions and collaborating with senior military sponsors to create a comprehensive digital model that informs analysis and recommendations.

The role encompasses a diverse range of challenges, including:

  • Electromagnetic spectrum operations
  • Cybersecurity analytics
  • Network resilience analysis
  • Operational and military utility assessments

As a vital member of MITRE's Systems Engineering team, you will work closely with mission specialists, engineers, and government stakeholders to address critical systems engineering challenges essential to national security.

Your expertise in model-based systems engineering will be instrumental in supporting operational missions related to nuclear planning, communications resilience, and global operations.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply model-based systems engineering principles to real-world challenges.
  • Develop and evaluate complex systems engineering solutions using industry-standard languages such as SysML/UML.
  • Utilize analytical approaches to support policy and capability decisions, focusing on military utility and operational effectiveness.
  • Identify major uncertainties and associated risks, devising strategies for mitigation and opportunity capitalization.
  • Collaborate with MITRE staff to apply modeling expertise to various challenges.
  • Present findings in a clear and actionable manner for diverse audiences.
  • Engage with sponsors and contribute to MITRE's innovation initiatives.
  • Work independently or as part of a larger team in a hybrid work environment.

Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must be a U.S. citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Demonstrated knowledge of model-based systems engineering principles and tools.

Familiarity with systems engineering methodologies, including SysML/UML and relevant software tools.


Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or a PhD in a STEM field.

Active TS/SCI security clearance.

Experience with modeling, optimization, and simulation techniques.

Understanding of DoD organizations, missions, and acquisition processes.

Knowledge of emerging technologies in systems engineering, including digital engineering and AI applications.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply systems engineering principles to complex challenges.
