Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineer to support mission-critical operations.

Role Overview:
  • Act as the principal engineer to devise and execute technical strategies that fulfill client needs.
  • Gather and analyze requirements through customer documentation, interviews, and service impact assessments.
  • Create project outlines and engineering forecasts, including financial assessments and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Oversee and/or execute the deployment of sanctioned technical solutions.
  • Engage in all stages of the development lifecycle, focusing on planning, analysis, testing, and acceptance.
  • Draft and compile technical reports and associated documentation.
  • Deliver presentations and updates regarding project/task progress.
  • Generate procurement requests and maintain configuration management records.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings to stay informed about emerging requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients to ascertain their needs and ensure the implemented solutions align with those needs.
  • Provide technical guidance and respond to various tasking requests.
  • Construct UNIX/Linux servers, ensure compliance with security protocols, test systems/software/hardware, and integrate them into operational environments.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation for the operation and maintenance of equipment and software is available to the Operations Division team.
  • Conduct performance monitoring and document issues along with recommendations for the Operations Division team.
  • Perform routine Linux administrative tasks.
Qualifications:

2 years of experience with a BS/BA; 0 years with an MS/MA; or 6 years of relevant work or military experience in lieu of a degree.

Essential Skills:
  • Proficiency with RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.x / 8.x, VMware VSphere 6.x and above, Red Hat Satellite 6.7 and above.
  • Experience in Automation/Configuration Management for Linux (Puppet/Ansible).
  • Familiarity with Containers (Docker/Kubernetes) and Container Orchestration (Tanzu/OpenShift).
  • Knowledge of vRealize Automation and vRealize Operations.
  • Understanding of systems engineering processes, including requirements gathering, technical solution creation, implementation, and testing/verification.
  • Experience in system integration (hardware, software, network, and database).
  • Knowledge of multi-hardware system operations, performance, and effectiveness.
  • Experience with SAN hardware layout and configuration.
  • Understanding of system security and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG).
  • Familiarity with systems engineering tools, such as Visio.
  • Strong technical writing capabilities.
Clearance Requirement:
  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance.
  • Polygraph is preferred.
Required Certifications:
  • DOD 8570 Information Assurance Technical Level II (or higher) is mandatory (e.g., Security + CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
Preferred Certifications:
  • ITIL Foundations.
  • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA).
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
