Junior Accountant Job Description

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a highly skilled Junior Accountant to support our team's financial operations. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for processing payable invoices, maintaining vendor files, and ensuring accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Transactions: Process payable invoices daily, ensuring proper approval and coding. Assist with credit card statements and reconcile billing discrepancies with vendors.
  • Vendor Management: Maintain accurate vendor files, including payment terms and information. Review branch invoices for proper G/L code and accuracy of amounts.
  • Education and Training: Assist vendors in understanding our virtual credit card, check, and ACH payment processes to maintain a paperless payment system.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work independently with minimal supervision, collaborating with colleagues to maintain sales and use tax procedures and related spreadsheets. Provide reports to inform and assist branch and Association Office staff as requested.
  • Special Projects: Complete special projects in a timely and accurate manner as assigned. Cross-train on daily posting of Salesforce activity and train on Grant Management processes.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with ERP systems (Business Central preferred), Adaptive, and Excel. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and prioritize tasks effectively.
