Position Summary:

This role is crucial for overseeing, directing, and managing crews and subcontractors to ensure the completion of various earthwork construction projects safely, efficiently, and with high quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Determine site boundaries by measuring distances from reference points.
  • Lead work crews in operating machinery and vehicles for tasks such as dumping, scraping, and spreading earth materials.
  • Ensure the graded surface meets specifications by verifying curvature using hand levels.
  • Perform additional supervisory duties as required.
  • May oversee specialized crews such as those involved in asphalt paving or fine grading.
  • May supervise teams engaged in laying drainage systems and culverts.
Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.

Experience: Typically requires 2 to 4 years of specific job training to achieve average performance in this role.

Skills and Abilities:

Successful candidates should possess the ability to:

  • Interpret engineering drawings.
  • Adhere to safety protocols.
  • Work in challenging environments.
  • Follow directives and meet established standards.
  • Accurately assess distances and slopes.
  • Make informed decisions based on clear standards.
Physical Requirements:

Applicants must be capable of:

  • Stoop, bend, and crouch as necessary.
  • Utilize hands, arms, and legs effectively.
  • Maintain good vision, with or without correction.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting of lighter objects.

Salary Range: $7.25 - $300.00, dependent on experience, skills, location, and education.
