Position Overview:

Collins Aerospace, a leader in aerospace and defense, is in search of a distinguished GPS and Navigation Specialist to enhance our Software Engineering division. This role is crucial in developing advanced communication and monitoring systems that ensure the safety of our armed forces through real-time data.


We are looking for a passionate and skilled software engineer with a proven history of creating real-time embedded software specifically for GPS Receivers. The successful candidate will utilize effective software development methodologies and possess the following qualifications:


Essential Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in embedded software development using C, C++, Ada, or similar programming languages (minimum of 10 years).
  • Proficient in architecting, developing, and integrating real-time embedded software for GPS Receivers, including hardware integration.
  • Familiarity with implementing wireless communication technologies such as 5G, LTE, CDMA, or GPS.
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture, particularly regarding hardware/software interfaces in wireless communication systems or GPS.
  • Knowledgeable in signal selection, acquisition and tracking, Position, Velocity, and Time (PVT) calculations, data demodulation, signal correction, and jamming/spoofing techniques.
  • Experience in leadership roles, providing technical guidance and expertise to team members.
  • Competence in developing software using Green Hills Integrity Real-time Operating Systems, board support packages (BSP), and Wind River VxWorks for C/C++ or equivalent tools.
  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) is typically required, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 7 years of experience. In the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is necessary.
  • An active Secret Security Clearance or higher is mandatory.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing Radar Software Architecture and signal processing algorithms for wireless communication technologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Continuous Integration, and Static Code Analysis.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality, well-documented code that adheres to design and coding standards.
