Key Responsibilities- Coordinate care for occupational injury and illness cases, including assessment of health needs, development of treatment plans, and facilitation of medical services.
- Collaborate with management to ensure work-related accommodations, restrictions, and rehabilitation needs are met.
- Manage medical records, including filing paper records and maintaining both paper and electronic records.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the leave of absence and workers' compensation programs.
- Evaluate and interpret weekly sick disability claims to ensure appropriate recovery time and return to work.
- Conduct periodic workplace walkthrough assessments to identify potential workplace hazards and develop risk reduction strategies.
- Assess employee fitness for duty based on physical capacity standards and job placement.
- Develop and maintain written policies, procedures, and protocols for Occupational Health to promote standardization of care and quality assurance of nursing practice.
- Bachelor's Degree and Certification in Occupational Health Nursing preferred.
- Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Texas.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Occupational and Environmental Health Nursing.
- Strong knowledge of medical record keeping, customer service, and diplomacy.
- Ability to work under pressure and in conditions of frequent interruption.
The Occupational Health Nurse will work in a fast-paced clinic/office environment with multiple interruptions. The nurse will also enter manufacturing and cleanroom areas, requiring a high level of concentration and dexterity to administer first aid and perform various tests and lab work.
