Purchasing Agent Job Description

Foster Farms is a leading poultry products company committed to excellence, honesty, quality, service, and teamwork. We are seeking a skilled Purchasing Agent to manage the purchase and delivery of goods and services in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze spend, source, bid, negotiate, and maintain SAP records for assigned responsibilities and support operations.
  • Establish vendor relationships and purchase mapping for stakeholders within assigned categories.
  • Maintain, evaluate, and provide feedback for supplier performance.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to influence and drive decisions.
  • Support and deliver continuous improvement opportunities related to assigned buy space, procure to pay process, or other responsibilities.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with statistics, plus report writing skills required.
  • 3 to 5 years Sourcing, Materials Management, Finance/Accounting, Supply Chain, or Operations experience or MBA plus 2 years' experience in Sourcing, Materials Management, Finance/Accounting, Supply Chain, or Operations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, emphasizing spreadsheets, presentations, and databases.
  • Act decisively with a sense of urgency, but able to collaborate and build alignment.
  • Must be a self-starter comfortable working independently on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Capable of prioritizing, meeting deadlines, and delivering results.
  • Requires demonstrated communication skills, clear articulate speech, good listening skills, and the ability to generate clear, concise written documentation.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Supplier relationship management experience.
  • Experience negotiating with vendors, suppliers, or internal/external customers.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to obtain a CA driver's license.
  • Must be able to have consistent attendance in the Livingston, or other assigned Foster Farms' office(s).
