We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant State Veterinarian and CWD Coordinator to join our team at the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. As a key member of our Animal Industry Division, you will play a critical role in protecting and promoting animal health in Michigan.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of programs to protect animal health and safety in Michigan.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and communication of animal health initiatives.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to staff on animal health-related matters.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including veterinarians, farmers, and industry representatives.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in animal health and disease management.
- Doctorate degree in veterinary medicine.
- At least three years of professional experience equivalent to a Veterinarian 12, two years equivalent to a Veterinarian Manager 13 or Veterinary Specialist 13, or one year equivalent to a Veterinarian Manager 14 or Veterinary Specialist 14.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
