Job Summary

The RN Clinical Documentation Specialist will play a pivotal role in providing secondary case review and ensuring accurate and thorough clinical documentation. This position will directly enhance patient outcomes through quality-focused reviews.

Responsibilities
  • Provide secondary case review and ensure accurate and thorough clinical documentation
  • Enhance patient outcomes through quality-focused reviews
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to improve clinical documentation
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve clinical documentation
  • Monitor and analyze clinical documentation data to identify areas for improvement
Requirements
  • BSN Degree Required
  • 3 or more years RN experience in a hospital setting
  • Prefer 3 or more years experience working with inpatient clinical documentation, mortality, PSI, HAC, or other quality-focused reviews required
  • Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) - OR - Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) required
  • Coding Certification (CCS, CIC, CPC) preferred
  • Experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS, APR DRG, and MS DRG required
  • Strong critical thinking & attention to detail
  • Active TX RN license or ability to gain state licensure
