Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist healthcare professionals in delivering technical care to patients, including performing phlebotomy, initiating IVs, and transporting patients to various departments.
  • Monitor and document patient information and promptly relay observations and concerns to registered nurses.
  • Manage daily patient charges and related procedures through the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Facilitate communication among healthcare providers to enhance patient care, coordinating all forms of communication (phone, verbal, electronic, etc.).
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment by adhering to departmental safety protocols and standard precautions.
  • Oversee equipment functionality and troubleshoot minor issues, arranging repairs for significant malfunctions.
  • Perform patient positioning and transportation tasks, utilizing proper lifting techniques.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development principles across the lifespan.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
  • Active Nurse Aide registration with the State Registry, or
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic license issued by the state, or
  • EMT Basic Intravenous license, or
  • EMT Intermediate license, or
  • EMT Paramedic license, and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association (AHA) to be obtained within 6 months unless exempted by the department leader.
Education Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience Required:
  • No prior experience necessary.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with healthcare teams, patients, and families.
  • Commitment to maintaining skills and certifications as mandated by regulations and organizational standards.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • Team members must fulfill annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting frequently during shifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist and 20 lbs overhead.
  • Capable of carrying up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
  • Must push/pull with 30 lbs of force and perform sliding transfers of 150 lbs with assistance.
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, and biological hazards is continuous.
  • Protective gear such as gloves, goggles, and gowns may be required.
  • Functional sight and hearing are necessary for job performance.
