Key Responsibilities:
Maintains cleanliness in patient care areas, surgical suites, restrooms, conference spaces, lobbies, offices, elevators, and stairwells.
Ensures all environmental surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, including ceilings, vents, walls, doors, furniture, beds, bathroom fixtures, and windows. Assists with emergency spill clean-ups as needed.
Dusts and damp mops floors in patient rooms, corridors, stairwells, restrooms, and other facility areas.
Replaces cubicle and window coverings as required.
Collects and disposes of recyclables, waste, and medical refuse, adhering to established infection control protocols for hazardous materials.
Sorts, stocks, and delivers linens, and prepares soiled linen for transport.

Prepares dismissal and transfer units along with certain equipment utilized in patient care, and distributes non-medical supplies to designated areas.

Restocks and cleans supply dispensers.
Conducts inventory of linens, cleaning materials, and paper supplies, placing orders in a timely and cost-effective manner. Maintains an organized and clean housekeeping closet.
Reports any mechanical issues or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.

Education:
No formal education necessary.

Experience:
No prior experience needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions, as well as communicate effectively with others.
Capable of working independently and understanding the physical layout of the facilities.
Performs duties without disrupting the workflow of healthcare professionals, patients, and other staff.
Ability to prioritize tasks and adhere to departmental policies and procedures in all circumstances.
Basic computer proficiency.
Exceptional customer service skills.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Must be able to:
Lift up to 35 lbs. from floor to a maximum height of 5 ft.
Lift and carry up to 20 lbs. at waist level over a reasonable distance.

Must be able to:
Push/pull with a force of 50 lbs.
Bend, stoop, kneel, reach above shoulders, and crawl to complete assigned tasks.
Push/pull/drag equipment such as hospital beds and lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Remain on feet for the majority of the shift, engaging in walking and standing activities.

Must be able to wear protective clothing due to exposure to strong germicidal solutions, cleaning agents, temperature variations, soiled linen, and infectious waste (blood and body fluids).

Familiarity with policies regarding the handling of infectious and hazardous waste is required.

Must possess the ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, mopping devices, buffers or burnishers, automatic scrubbers, and six-foot stepladders.

Operates all necessary equipment to perform the job, including telephones and zone phones.
