Casual Radiologic Technician

Advocate Aurora Health is in search of a Casual Radiologic Technician to join our dedicated team.
Job Responsibilities- Conducts fundamental and advanced radiographic procedures, including general diagnostic imaging and fluoroscopy.
- Engages with patients to clarify procedures, gather clinical history, and ensure understanding while addressing any inquiries or concerns.
- Positions patients appropriately and selects exposure parameters for various radiologic examinations, ensuring patient safety and adherence to established protocols.
- Verifies patient identity and accurately labels images, cross-referencing requisitions with physician orders to guarantee exam precision, while processing images to maintain quality standards.
- Collaborates and communicates effectively with Radiologists.
- Maintains and organizes records in compliance with regulatory standards, entering patient and study data into the radiology information system, and documenting billing codes for services rendered to ensure accurate patient charges.
- Performs patient positioning and transportation tasks, which may involve lifting and pushing/pulling, while applying proper techniques.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, understanding the principles of growth and development across the lifespan, and effectively assessing and interpreting patient data to meet individual needs.
- Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
- Registered Technologist (RT) certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within six months.
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology beyond high school.
- No prior experience is necessary.
- Proficient in radiology positioning and techniques.
- Understanding of basic radiation safety and radiology equipment.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills to collaborate effectively with physicians, patients, and staff.
- Ability to work independently.
- Intermediate computer proficiency.
- Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, and reaching frequently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to stand or walk for the majority of the day.
- Must be able to:
- Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- Lift up to 20 lbs. overhead.
- Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to:
- Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
- Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with assistance.
- May encounter mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards, as well as exposure to blood and body fluids; therefore, appropriate personal protective equipment must be utilized as necessary.
- Must possess clear speech, vision, and hearing.
- Operates all necessary equipment to fulfill job responsibilities.
