0.9 FTE, with requirements for holiday and weekend shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare professionals in delivering technical patient care, including performing phlebotomy, initiating IVs, and transporting patients to various departments.
- Monitor patients by placing them on cardiac and vital sign monitors, performing wound care, and inserting Foley catheters while obtaining necessary lab specimens.
- Document procedures and promptly relay observations and patient needs to registered nurses.
- Manage daily patient charges and related procedures through the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Collaborate with physicians to ensure effective communication for patient care, coordinating all forms of communication including phone, verbal, electronic, and EMS systems.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment by adhering to departmental safety policies and standard precautions.
- Monitor and troubleshoot equipment, arranging repairs for significant malfunctions.
- Perform patient positioning and transportation duties, utilizing proper lifting techniques.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, understanding the principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
- Valid Nurse Aide certification in good standing with the State Registry, or
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic license issued by the state, or
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association, to be obtained within six months unless exempted by the department leader.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- No prior experience necessary.
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, and their families.
- Commitment to maintaining skills and certifications as required by regulations and organizational standards.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
- High attention to detail.
- Compliance with annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach, and twist frequently during shifts.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist and 20 lbs overhead.
- Ability to carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance and push/pull with 30 lbs of force.
- Ability to perform sliding transfers of 150 lbs with assistance.
- Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, and biohazard risks, requiring the use of personal protective equipment as necessary.
- Functional sight and hearing are essential for performing job duties.
