0.9 FTE, with requirements for holiday and weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist healthcare professionals in delivering technical patient care, including performing phlebotomy, initiating IVs, and transporting patients to various departments.
  • Monitor patients by placing them on cardiac and vital sign monitors, performing wound care, and inserting Foley catheters while obtaining necessary lab specimens.
  • Document procedures and promptly relay observations and patient needs to registered nurses.
  • Manage daily patient charges and related procedures through the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Collaborate with physicians to ensure effective communication for patient care, coordinating all forms of communication including phone, verbal, electronic, and EMS systems.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment by adhering to departmental safety policies and standard precautions.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot equipment, arranging repairs for significant malfunctions.
  • Perform patient positioning and transportation duties, utilizing proper lifting techniques.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, understanding the principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
  • Valid Nurse Aide certification in good standing with the State Registry, or
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic license issued by the state, or
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association, to be obtained within six months unless exempted by the department leader.
Education Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience Required:
  • No prior experience necessary.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, and their families.
  • Commitment to maintaining skills and certifications as required by regulations and organizational standards.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Compliance with annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach, and twist frequently during shifts.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist and 20 lbs overhead.
  • Ability to carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance and push/pull with 30 lbs of force.
  • Ability to perform sliding transfers of 150 lbs with assistance.
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, and biohazard risks, requiring the use of personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • Functional sight and hearing are essential for performing job duties.
