Job Overview

We're looking for a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to assist our Head Chef in leading our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen team, you'll be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food production, service execution, and restaurant organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the culinary team in preparing and executing menus, ensuring consistency and quality in all dishes.
  • Coach and mentor team members to develop their skills and knowledge, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Effectively communicate with the team, prioritizing tasks and managing demands to ensure seamless service execution.
  • Oversee the setup and preparation of all stations, ensuring a successful service.
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of quality and consistency in all food production and execution.
  • Assist in ordering and inventory management, reviewing products daily to ensure quality meets kitchen standards.
  • Manage back-of-house team members, including recruiting, hiring, scheduling, training, and performance reviews.
  • Develop and implement systems and procedures for maintenance and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards, enforcing high sanitation standards.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team on menu development and implementation.
  • Meet with and coordinate with front- and back-of-house managers to align with the restaurant's overall goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of service experience, preferably in a Sous Chef role.
  • Passion for creating memorable guest experiences through cooking.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a high level of quality and focus.
  • Extensive knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredient sourcing, and menu development.
  • NYC Department of Health Food Protection Certification and a strong understanding of best practices for maintaining excellent restaurant hygiene conditions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workplace.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Korean cuisine is a plus, but not required.
