Role Overview:
The Marine Engineering Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting the Chief Engineer and the First Engineer in the effective operation, maintenance, and repair of the vessel's engineering systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Chief Engineer and 1st Engineer in managing vessel engineering operations.
- Ensure compliance with USCG regulations regarding manning and watch standing.
- Oversee maintenance schedules and maintain accurate fuel and discharge logs.
- Manage spare parts inventory while adhering to company policies.
- Participate in training programs and ensure vessel maintenance meets regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to assist with USCG compliance and maintenance initiatives.
- Commitment to upholding company policies and procedures.
- QMED certification is mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
- Must pass drug screening and be able to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to board and disembark vessels independently.
- Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions and navigate steep stairs or ladders.
Work Environment:
Expect to work 12 hours or more daily throughout the duration of assignments.
Willingness to spend extended periods at sea is essential.
Responsibilities may include maintenance tasks during tie-up, shipyard, and in-port operations.
Compensation ranges from $7,000 to $9,000 per trip based on crew share value.
