Position Summary

As a Senior Materials Engineer, you will play a crucial role in refining our engineering methodologies across various departments such as operations, materials science, manufacturing, and product innovation. This position requires you to become proficient in simulation techniques and mold design, encompassing finite element analysis (FEA) and mold flow assessments. Key responsibilities include delivering mechanical design assistance, enhancing product designs for cost-effectiveness, validating simulation techniques through empirical testing, and collaborating with R&D on pioneering projects. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is essential, along with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing setting (or 7 years with a Master's degree). Expertise in mechanical design and simulation is a must, alongside strong communication skills and the willingness to travel up to 70% of the time. A Master's degree is preferred, although substantial experience in relevant areas may be considered adequate.

Work Environment:This hybrid role is situated at one of Hubbell's primary locations.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Serve as the authority on simulation and mold design, including finite element analysis (FEA) and mold flow analysis.
  • Provide timely mechanical design support and mold-flow simulation services to diverse engineering teams.
  • Enhance product design and manufacturing processes for cost savings and operational efficiency.
  • Validate simulation methodologies through physical product testing at Hubbell's testing facilities.
  • Collaborate with research and development teams on various projects involving new materials, manufacturing techniques, and product innovations.
  • Offer additional engineering services, including monthly reporting and training for new users, while mentoring less experienced team members on simulation practices.
Qualifications for Success
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a Bachelor's degree, or 7 years with a Master's degree.
  • Prior experience in mechanical design, finite element analysis, product testing, quality assurance, standards engineering, and/or reliability engineering is advantageous.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex subjects, often utilizing teleconferencing tools, presentations, and public speaking.
  • Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
  • A Master's degree or higher in engineering is preferred, but candidates with significant relevant experience and knowledge in simulation and design methodologies will be considered.
