Job Description

Role Overview:

As a Peer Support Specialist with Kyros Inc, you will have the opportunity to leverage your personal recovery journey to positively impact the lives of individuals with limited access to Substance Use Disorder (SUD) services. You will be responsible for building and nurturing connections with individuals in recovery from substance use disorders, providing empathy, understanding, and support in a non-judgmental manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual support sessions to promote wellness plans, goals, and the maintenance of newly developed skills.
  • Assist clients in developing coping strategies and resilience within their recovery journey.
  • Guide clients in accessing suitable services and resources, and collaborate with community organizations to bolster support systems.
  • Identify when and how to engage professional services or emergency responders, and recognize client triggers and aid in the development of healthy coping mechanisms.
  • Keep accurate and confidential digital records of client interactions and progress, and participate in regular supervision sessions to reflect on personal and professional growth.

Requirements:

  • Current, unencumbered Peer Supporter Certification from the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services (OHMHAS).
  • Self-declaration of 1+ years of personal lived experience in recovery from Substance Use Disorder (SUD).
  • Current valid driver's license.
  • Consistent access to a reliable vehicle with active insurance in your name.
  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • Pass Applicant Background Check, if applicable by state.
  • Strong computer/technology skills to learn and use digital platform for client appointments and notes.
  • Access to a reliable computer, laptop, or tablet and a mobile device.
  • Openness and appreciation for diverse backgrounds.
  • Adherence to boundaries and ethics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Compensation:

  • As a Certified Peer Support Specialist, 1099 Independent Contractor with Kyros Inc, you will be paid weekly in accordance with weekly client care appointments.
  • Payscale: $20-$23/hr depending on experience.
