Job Summary

Microsoft Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Principal Hardware Engineer - Acoustics to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing new products and solutions that improve the performance, efficiency, and reliability of our data centers. Specifically, we are looking for a Hardware Engineer with a subspecialty in engineering acoustics. You will work with a cross-functional team of engineers, researchers, and business partners to identify customer needs, generate innovative ideas, and deliver high-quality solutions. You will also collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to ensure alignment with our standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

Design of mechanical systems for data center critical environments for low noise and high efficiency.
Analysis, simulation, and modeling of noise and vibration of systems in critical environments
Define product requirements internally and cross-functionally for noise control
Influence product roadmap and strategy around noise control
Subject matter expert for noise control on data center systems architectures

Qualifications

10+ years of technical engineering experience
OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience
OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience
OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience
4+ years experience with mission critical systems like datacenter, healthcare, oil, military, or utilities
4+ years experience with designing systems and/or developing products for industrial or mission critical environments
