Job Summary

The Production Chef is a key member of the Birchaven Village team, responsible for delivering exceptional food service to our residents. This role requires a high level of passion for food, service, and quality, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Menu Development: Assist in the creation and implementation of new menu items, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and taste.
  • Leadership and Accountability: Demonstrate leadership skills and personal accountability for performance, ensuring that quality food service is provided to every customer.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain the main kitchen in a safe and sanitary manner, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Production Standards: Set production standards based on a uniform prep method, ensuring consistency and efficiency in food preparation.
  • Recipe Management: Assist in stabilizing standard recipes, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and taste.
  • Inventory Management: Manage all food storage areas in the main kitchen, working with the Sous chef to ensure accurate ordering and inventory control.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Sous chef and other kitchen staff to ensure seamless food service delivery.
  • Service Excellence: Display service excellence by practicing the mission, vision, and values of Birchaven Village, promoting resident satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and practices to ensure quality job performance and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and speak in sentences.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and count.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a culinary position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Culinary Arts Degree: 2-year culinary arts degree.
  • Professional Experience: Experience in a professional kitchen, cooking from scratch.
  • Serve Safe Certification: Serve safe certified.
