ESE Teacher Needed for Special Education Program

- Requirement: ESE Certification Required

The Special Education Teacher, under the guidance of the Special Education Program Administrator, delivers exceptional educational services to students with special needs from kindergarten through grade 12. This role emphasizes collaboration in the planning and execution of individualized student programs, which include specialized instruction, tutorial support, and consultation with general education staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops personalized education plans in collaboration with parents and team members
  • Facilitates learning for students with diverse learning, emotional, and physical challenges
  • Creates instructional materials for both individual and small group settings that align with the general curriculum
  • Works with parents, administrators, and specialists to formulate educational strategies that enhance students' overall development
  • Prepares classroom environments for engaging educational activities
  • Coordinates the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) with general education staff
  • Monitors student progress and participates in the review and adjustment of IEPs as necessary
  • Maintains comprehensive student records
  • Provides mentorship and support to teaching assistants working with students with disabilities
  • Aids students in transitioning between grades and developing essential life skills
  • Evaluates students' abilities and educational needs while tracking their performance
  • Communicates students' progress with other educators
  • Fosters positive relationships with students and their families through effective communication
  • Adheres to School District policies and procedures
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution preferred
  • Valid state teaching certification as mandated by state regulations
  • At least one year of experience in an educational setting preferred
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred
  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred
  • Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
  • Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice
  • Participation in Amergis' Competency program when applicable
  • Current CPR certification if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate as per contract or state regulations
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
