Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor of Multilingual Learners with Disabilities to join our team at the Boston Public Schools. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students and contribute to the development of a world-class system of innovative and welcoming schools.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and support to schools and central administration in ensuring that our students with disabilities have equitable access to high-quality instruction and services. This includes developing and implementing policies and procedures, providing professional development to teachers and administrators, and collaborating with stakeholders to improve outcomes for our multilingual learners.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about education, has a strong background in special education and bilingual education, and is committed to excellence, equity, and high expectations for all students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to support the education of multilingual learners with disabilities
  • Provide professional development to teachers and administrators on topics such as second language acquisition, literacy, and adaptation of instructional materials
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve outcomes for multilingual learners, including developing and implementing data-driven instructional plans
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services for multilingual learners with disabilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to support the education of multilingual learners
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Special Education, Bilingual Education, or related field
  • Massachusetts Administrator license as Director/Supervisor (SPED or ESL) or SPED Administrator
  • Experience as an ESL and Special Education educator/provider
  • Ability to work independently and in team teaching situations
  • Excellent organizational and writing skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in ESL, Applied Linguistics or related field
  • Qualified ACCESS administrator status
  • Knowledge of content and literacy development in Dual Language and SLIFE programs
  • Bilingual Education Endorsement and/or Second Language Proficiency in Spanish, Haitian Kreyol, Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), Vietnamese, Cabo Verdean Creole, Portuguese or Somali
