Job Title: Public Works Superintendent

GCON Construction is seeking a highly skilled Public Works Superintendent to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of our Public Works projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the building process for multiple Public Works projects, with a focus on delivering exceptional results and meeting client expectations.
  • Support preconstruction, buyout, logistics, and scheduling to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Develop and implement operational plans, collaborating with Business Development to drive sales pursuits and presentations.
  • Communicate project success factors and implementation strategies to stakeholders.
  • Reconcile Work in Progress (WIP) with Trade contractors' Schedule of Values and support timely and accurate payment requisitions.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the Profit Plan (PP) and project financial forecast.
  • Conduct jobsite Lean and Last Planner System (LPS) boot camps to drive continuous improvement.
  • Establish and maintain a weekly cadence of LPS and continuous improvement activities between staff and trade partners.
  • Innovate and solve core and shell construction challenges, utilizing project team and trade partner resources.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and collaborate with stakeholders to provide an effective Quality Control (QC) program.
  • Create and assess Weekly Work Plan (WWP) and Pre-Task Plan (PTP) for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Execute Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures, implement Injury Free Environments, and identify safety training needs for the team.
Requirements:
  • 7-10+ years of relevant site management experience on Public Works projects.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Project to build project schedules.
  • Experience with CMIC and/or Procore.
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing/Walking/Sitting
  • Legs: Must be able to climb stairs
  • Hands/Arms: Constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use
  • Vision: Visual acuity in near, mid, and far range. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination
  • Hearing: Sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone and radio; sufficient to hear alarms on equipment
  • Speech: Sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the telephone and radio
  • Lift/Carry: Up to 40lbs.
  • Bending/Twisting
  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling
