Position Overview

The Estimator plays a crucial role in analyzing bid specifications and project drawings to ensure comprehensive understanding for successful project bidding. This position involves estimating and managing production costs by gathering essential information and collaborating with Sales and Production Teams to develop competitive cost proposals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct all tasks with a strong adherence to Sunland's Core Values.
  • Quantify project components and requirements accurately.
  • Assess project sites and any associated restrictions.
  • Engage with Project Consultants to collect necessary bidding information.
  • Promote safety practices and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Estimating and Sales teams for effective project bidding.
  • Review proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents to prepare and present estimates.
  • Analyze project requirements and past performance data for current bids.
  • Maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Implement Sunland's Core Values in all activities.
  • Identify labor, material, and time requirements for each project.
  • Calculate costs based on labor, material, and time analysis.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings.
  • Utilize software tools for preparing estimates and documentation.
  • Manage personal estimating queue in Company Software daily.
  • Thoroughly review bid requirements.
  • Document all information, notes, and meetings in Company Software.
  • Provide weekly updates to the Estimating Manager.
  • Act as a representative of the Company, ensuring excellent service to clients and the public.
  • Follow up with subcontractors to confirm bid submissions.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to construction-related hazards and materials is expected.
Position Type and Work Hours
  • This is a full-time position, with occasional evening and weekend work as necessary.
Travel Requirements
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of estimating experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of general construction experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints.
  • Strong mathematical skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and strong computer skills are required.
  • Excellent communication and writing abilities are necessary.
  • Fluency in English is required.
Certifications and Licenses
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check is required.
