Job Summary

As a key member of the Marriott team, the Assistant Director of Engineering plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities. This position is responsible for assisting the department head in managing the budget, capital expenditures, and preventative maintenance programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering and maintenance, with excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and evaluating preventative maintenance programs
  • Help establish priorities for total property maintenance needs
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of Engineering
  • Manage the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety systems
  • Maintain and operate equipment at optimum effectiveness, efficiency, and safety
  • Supervise the distribution of repair work orders
  • Assist in maintaining grounds, meeting rooms, ballrooms, public space, restaurants, property vehicles, and recreational facilities as needed
  • Act as a technical liaison for all departments in the property
  • Supervise Engineering in the absence of the Director of Engineering
  • Recommend or arrange for additional services, such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment
  • Select and make purchases of new equipment, supplies, and furnishings
  • Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities to determine the type of work required
  • Manage parts, supplies, and equipment inventories effectively
  • Perform inspections effectively
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing new technologies, equipment, and supplies
  • Assist in establishing and implementing an energy conservation program
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED; 4 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major; 2 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing
