Job Summary

Wildfire Defense Systems, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engine Boss to lead a single fire engine and attached personnel on wildland incidents. As an Engine Boss, you will be responsible for the safety of your crew and the successful execution of fire suppression operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a single fire engine and attached personnel on wildland incidents
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of your crew to ensure safe and effective fire suppression operations
  • Report to a WDS supervisor, Strike Team/Task Force Leader, or other assigned supervisor
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety protocols and regulations
  • Collaborate with other incident management teams to achieve common goals
Requirements
  • Introduction to ICS (ICS-100)
  • Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service (L-180)
  • Firefighter Training (S-130 - Field Day Required)
  • Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior (S-190)
  • NIMS: An Introduction (IS-700)
  • Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher (WFSTAR) (RT-130)
  • Ability to pass a WCT (Work Capacity Test/Pack Test) at Arduous Level
  • ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents (ICS-200)
  • Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher (WFSTAR) (RT-130)
  • Crew Boss (Single Resource) (S-230)
  • Engine Boss (S-231)
  • Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior (S-290)
  • Satisfactory performance as a Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1)
  • Completion and Certification of NWCG Engine Boss, Single Resource (ENGB) Position Task Book (PMS 311-13)
  • Employees must be 21 years of age or older
  • DOT Medical Examiner's Certification
  • Current driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • ENGBs hired after 9/19/2024 must have a valid passport and be willing and able to work in both the U.S. and Canada
