Patient Care Technician Operating Room

Trinity Health is seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team in the Operating Room. As a Patient Care Technician, you will provide direct patient care, considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. You will work under the direction of a registered nurse, assisting in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe, and conducive to patient/family well-being.
Responsibilities:
Perform nursing care as delegated by the RN, including recording intake and output, obtaining weights, and applying support/orthopedic devices.
Obtain routine vital signs, pain score, and temperature, and assist patients with coughing, deep breathing, and use of incentive spirometer.
Apply warm and cold therapies, provide care for restrained patients, and remove Foley catheters.
Assist patients with completing ADLs, including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, and ambulation using assistive devices as needed.
Assist with feeding and menu selection, distribute/collect nourishments, and answer call lights.
Demonstrate sterile or aseptic technique as appropriate when performing delegated activities, including collecting and sending specimens, removing peripheral IV catheters, and competency-based point-of-care testing.
Record patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation and charging requirements.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Preferred minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long-term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course
Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program
