Job Summary

A Foreman is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the construction site. They serve as the point of contact between construction workers and supervisors, leading their assigned crew(s) and overseeing various tasks. Key duties include ensuring a safe work environment, coordinating tasks, creating schedules, overseeing quality, and managing the budget.

The Foreman reports progress to the general foreman and superintendent, making this a safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe work environment and coordinate tasks for the day.
  • Create schedules for workers and oversee the quality of the site.
  • Manage the budget and report progress to superiors.
  • Supervise all craft construction workers and investigate accidents.
  • Be the liaison between construction workers and supervisors.
  • Ensure the project is adequately staffed and guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met.
  • Supervise the use of machinery and equipment and escalate construction and staffing concerns as needed.
  • Assign tasks to construction workers and ensure the project stays on or under budget.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program.
  • Take initiative and possess a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience using assorted power tools and hand tools.
  • Provide own safety footwear.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
  • Be reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in construction layout, blueprint reading, and shop drawing reading.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification.
