About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Foreman to join our team at American Fence Company, Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation of permanent fences, managing a team of workers, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify project materials and tools before arriving at the job site.
  • Make decisions on fence installation, including termination placement.
  • Discuss fencing needs with customers and clarify specifications.
  • Prepare site areas for installation, removing obstacles as needed.
  • Measure and lay out fence lines, marking posthole positions.
  • Align posts, ensuring vertical alignment.
  • Locate and follow underground utility safety markings.
  • Dig postholes using various equipment.
  • Set posts in upright positions.
  • Mix and pour concrete around post bases or embed posts in soil.
  • Assemble and install custom ornamental iron fences and gates.
  • Nail top and bottom rails to fence posts or insert them in slots.
  • Stretch wire, wire mesh, or chain link fencing between posts.
  • Attach fence rail supports to posts.
  • Assemble gates and fasten them into position.
  • Complete top fence rails of metal fences by connecting tube sections.
  • Insert metal tubing through rail supports.
  • Attach rails or tension wire along post bottoms to form fencing frames.
  • Assemble custom iron fence orders on site.
  • Add or change installation specifications based on customer input or environmental constraints.
  • Install privacy slats or panels as required.
  • Ensure site specifications are met by the crew or subcontractors.
  • Complete tasks such as collecting signatures, employee time sheets, and other paperwork.
  • Remove, load, transport, and dispose of old fence at the site.
  • Drive company trucks to customer sites and back to the branch, following DOT regulations.
  • Complete gate tags with gate specifications and submit them to the shop for fabrication.
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, reach lifts, skid steers, and attachments for loading and unloading trucks, installing fences, or moving materials.
  • Inspect and complete safety checklists for equipment, power tools, and machinery before use.
  • Follow company and government safety/health rules and regulations.
Requirements
  • 2 years of heavy construction experience.
  • 1 year of experience as a supervisor or foreman.
  • Prior fencing experience is preferred.
